Build bridges of understanding between the bioscience community and policy makers that translate into support for bioscience-friendly policies and expanded innovation and research. National partners include the Biotechnology Industry Organization, National Venture Capital Association, Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America and U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Strategy and Tactics
Over the last five years HCG has developed and implemented a contemporary program that:
- Has staged over 50 forums across the country attended by key industry leaders and government officials
- Created a coalition for each event of state partners to assist in planning and promotion
- Identified and recruited speakers on the local and national level to participate in the events
- Created a branded informational website at www.nationalbbr.org.
Results
The Bioscience Business Roundtable has garnered the attention of the major paper of record in every city visited. In 2009, attendees heard from leading biotech researchers and entrepreneurs as well as U.S. Representative Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell, Delaware Governor Jack Markell, Texas Governor Rick Perry and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. The Bioscience Business Roundtable has helped decision makers understand what is happening in bioscience across the country and what is necessary to safeguard innovation that will ultimately save lives.
